FM4 Interview with Russian politics expert Prof. Iver Neumann

Russians like to see their country as a great power, according to Proessor Iver Neumann from the University of Oslo, who is known for his work on Russia in International Relations.

Vladimir Putin was President of Russia from 2000 to 2008, then he served as Prime Minister and in 2012 was elected as President again.

He presents himself as a strong leader who took Russia out of the economic, social and political crisis of the 1990s, and who defends Russia’s national interests, particularly against alleged Western hostility.

Professor Neumann was in Vienna visiting Webster University and spoke to Joanna Bostock about Putin’s position as a leader and the idea of Russia as a great power ….
